About Disability Financial Clarity

Specialist financial expertise for the disability sector

Disability Financial Clarity provides independent accounting, financial analysis and practical advisory services to disability providers, participants and organisations throughout Queensland and across Australia.

DFC was established by John Tomlinson, CPA and Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA), to help clients better understand their financial position and use that information to make informed decisions.

Many organisations already have accountants and financial reports but still struggle to understand which services are financially sustainable, what is driving costs and cash flow, and where financial risks or opportunities exist.

DFC helps bridge the gap between financial information and practical decision-making.More than financial reports

About John Tomlinson

CPA | Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) | 40+ years' financial experience

John Tomlinson brings more than 40 years of financial, management and operational experience gained across Australia and the United Kingdom.

His experience includes senior financial roles across healthcare, government and complex service-delivery environments, with particular expertise in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, workforce-cost analysis, financial modelling, governance and organisational improvement.

Throughout his career, John's focus has extended beyond preparing financial reports to understanding the operational story behind the numbers — why financial results are occurring, what risks or opportunities they reveal and what management can do in response.

John established Disability Financial Clarity to apply this experience specifically to the disability sector, helping providers and individuals make better-informed financial decisions.

His approach is straightforward:

Understand the numbers. Identify what matters. Explain it clearly.

Why Disability Financial Clarity is different

Disability-sector focus

DFC focuses specifically on the financial and operational challenges experienced by disability providers, participants and organisations.

Management-accounting expertise

The service extends beyond bookkeeping and annual compliance. The emphasis is on budgeting, forecasting, service costing, financial modelling, management reporting and decision support.

Practical operational experience

John's experience in healthcare, government and complex service-delivery organisations provides an understanding of the connection between financial performance and day-to-day operations.

Independent perspective

DFC provides objective financial analysis focused on the client's circumstances, risks and intended outcomes and can work alongside existing accountants, bookkeepers, management teams and boards.

Personal understanding of disability

John's personal experience of disability provides an additional understanding of the challenges faced by participants, families and organisations navigating complex disability and support systems.

Who Disability Financial Clarity supports

Disability and NDIS providers

DFC works with registered and unregistered providers, including growing organisations, established providers, SIL services, charities and other disability-sector organisations requiring greater financial insight and decision support.

Self-managed participants and families

Practical financial assistance to help participants and families better understand budgets, funding, expenditure and their overall financial position.

Individuals navigating disability or injury

Financial organisation and analysis for people managing the financial effects of disability, injury, reduced work capacity, WorkCover or lifetime-care arrangements.

DFC does not provide NDIS plan management or investment, superannuation, insurance or other financial-product advice.

How DFC works with clients

Every client's circumstances are different, so the engagement begins by understanding the issue you are trying to resolve.

1. Talk

We start with a complimentary 30-minute discussion about your circumstances and the financial issue you want to understand.

2. Scope

If DFC can assist, the proposed work, information required, deliverables, timeframe and professional fees are agreed before work begins.

3. Analyse

DFC reviews the relevant financial and operational information, identifies the issues that matter and develops practical findings and recommendations.

4. Explain

The findings are explained clearly so you understand what the numbers mean and can make an informed decision about what to do next.

DFC can work on a defined project or provide ongoing advisory support and can collaborate with your existing accountant, bookkeeper, management team or board.

Start with a conversation

A complimentary 30-minute discussion gives you an opportunity to explain what's happening, what you're trying to understand and where you need greater financial clarity.

I'll help clarify the financial issue and determine whether Disability Financial Clarity can assist.

There is no obligation to proceed.
